My name is Eric, and I am from Vancouver, Canada. I am currently completing my undergraduate degree. English is my primary language, hence I am fluent and can read/write at a high level. Mandarin is my secondary language. Aside from listening and speaking, I would say my Mandarin level is about that of an elementary school student (中文水平大该在小学5年级左右). My hobbies are snowboarding, gaming, and watching TV shows (more recently, I have been watching a lot of donghua动画). I am looking to make new friends whilst improving my Mandarin. I am looking to learn Taiwanese/Hokkien/Taigi! I am Chinese American, and can fluently speak both English and Mandarin. I am a PhD student in Anthropology at the University of California - Irvine. Because my research is on social media influencers in the Chinese diaspora, I also want to do research in Taiwan with Taiwanese speakers. I have English teaching experience, and can practice speaking, reading, or writing with you. My Taiwanese is very basic and I just want someone to help me pronounce basic vocabulary and read introductory grammar books with me. I love cooking, eating, hiking, reading, gardening, foraging, and listening to live music. I am staying in Chicago for an internship, and I enjoy exploring new neighborhoods as well!

There are many English activities I'd like to participate in, but I'm very unconfident about my spoken English and how to find topics to chat about.
